In 2021, it is easy to understand how dinnertime could get put on the backburner. Life can get so hectic with work, school, cleaning, activities and more, and just making sure everyone gets fed is sometimes such a struggle.

Your Brookshire Brothers family understands this, so we want to make Eat Better, Eat Together Month a time of joy and ease for the families in our community.

There is not much information known about the history of this holiday, but it is often used to spread education on the benefits of eating together as a family to prevent things like obesity, emotional issues, eating disorders, etc. and promoting things like healthy eating habits, improve communication skills, improve self-esteem and achievement at school and more!

Brookshire Brothers offers meal solutions for your family so you can spend less time on prep and more time on communication and making memories:

  • Easy Eats: Our Easy Eats options will have your mouth watering without the stress of putting a lot of work into mealtime. We have Asian Beef Stirfry with Noodles, Loaded Baked Potatoes, Chicken Primavera, California Salman with Asparagus, Chicken Fajitas with Rice and Beans and more!

Eat Together

As you work dinner into your schedule more often, consider these tips:

  1. Give yourself grace.
    • Don't expect to jump into family dinner every evening. Try once or twice a week as everyone gets into the swing of things.
  2. Prepare ahead of time.
    • Try to decide what's for supper at least the day before and plan when to pick everything up. Planning Sunday for the rest of the week might be easier if Sundays are slower for your family.
  3. Involve the kids.
    • Give your kiddos some responsibility in the meal prep. You can take them to the store and let them see your budget and grocery process. Let the smallest kids set the table and help load the dishwasher.
  4. Bring more to the table.
    • Add elements to dinner that your family will appreciate. Are you a competitive family? Play a board game or add some trivia to dinnertime. Are you a goofy family? Have everyone bring their funniest pun or video they saw that week. Does your family need some kindness? Have every member give a meaningful compliment to another and say something they are proud of.

The most important part of Eat Better, Eat Together Month is taking the time as a family to think about family dinner, take the time to remember what it means to you and make the most of the time you spend together while you have it.
