Restaurants began pairing red meat and seafood in the 1960s, but there is some debate whether the meal deal originated on the East or West Coast, the Atlantic or Pacific Ocean. Filet mignon and lobster are the classic duo, but many other delicious offshoots have arisen with incredibly delicious variations on the trend. 

Key ingredients of the traditional Surf 'N Turf include butter and garlic, bread crumbs, parsley, lemon, green onions, your choice of sides and of course, that delicious pair of red meat and seafood. Lobster is baked with the bread crumb topping, uncovered. Steaks are cooked on a grill or skillet. 

One fun variation is the foil pack. Choose your meat and add fun ingredients like corn on the cob, tomato, onion slices, lime, cheese, you name it! Divide the ingredients among the foil packs cut about 12 inches long, drizzle with flavor (like olive oil, seasoning, salt and pepper), fold the foil packs crisscross over your piles and roll the top and bottom edges closed. The packets grill with all the ingredients sizzling together for ultimate flavor blasting!
