Zavalla Food Pantry Feeds Residents in Rural Angelina County

The Zavalla Food Pantry serves more than 2,000 people each year with boxes full of nutritious food, mostly sourced from the East Texas Food Bank, but also from local donations. The Brookshire Brothers Charitable Foundation has supported the Zavalla Food Pantry for years by providing them gift cards to pick up necessary items from the Zavalla Brookshire Brothers store just a couple of miles down the road.

Improving the Lives of Thousands in Deep East Texas

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Deep East Texas is the largest youth-serving organization in their region, helping to improve academic standards for children, providing daily meals, supporting healthy lifestyles, and addressing character traits like responsibility, honesty, and integrity. Funding provided by many community donors, including the Brookshire Brothers Charitable Foundation, supports operating costs, equipment and supplies, utilities, maintenance, transportation, and training.

The Don Boyd Summer Youth Camp, a project of the Concerned Black Men of Lufkin, has served underprivileged youths in Angelina County for more than 40 years. The Coalition began their annual Project Sticker Shock campaign at Brookshire Brothers' Lufkin Gaslight location on March 7, 2023. Drug-Free All-Star seniors from Angelina County high schools placed stickers on alcoholic products to raise awareness about the risk of underage drinking and the consequences of providing alcohol to minors.
